My Web Design Internship

This blogpost was written by Laura Zambon, our superb web design intern, on her last day at The Web Kitchen:

“I am unfortunately coming to the end of my web design internship at The Web Kitchen. As I look back at my experience here, I am overwhelmed with how much I learnt during the past 5 months and I am so grateful for the industry experience I have gained whilst finishing my university degree.

I found it difficult to find a web design agency that offered a part-time internship, but I was fortunate enough to come across The Web Kitchen, who not only give students like me an opportunity to learn about web design, but also they ensure that you are a part of every process involved in a project. This gave me a well-rounded knowledge of the industry and a skill set that I will use for the rest of my career.

I was involved in creating wireframes for various projects, designing pages for a variety of sites as well as getting a better understanding of CMS’s such as WordPress and Typo3. I also designed email templates, blog posts and holding pages and I learnt the importance of the relationship with the client. These are all invaluable lessons that you need before stepping into the world of web design.

It is not often that you find a web design internship that makes you even more passionate about the profession, but I was fortunate enough to get this opportunity at The Web Kitchen.”
