Life as a New Starter at TWK
Life as a TWK Newbie
Having begun my journey here towards the end of 2025, the buzz of Christmas was imminent, with festive cheer (and the on tap beer, of course) pouring out copiously whilst I raced to learn the ropes as quickly as I could.
In retrospect, this felt like the best time to start afresh. I was highly motivated to set about achieving as much as possible before the working year ended, and whilst my brilliant colleagues reflected upon a year rich with shared experience, my working year at TWK in 2025 reached a grand total of 27 days. Sadly, not all of my new platforms and systems had fully grasped this, flooded as I was with ‘2025 roundup – your year in review’ emails, which generally described me as a go-getter whose usage across the year increased by roughly 600% (clearly not realising my year had started on 17th November).
Now, already almost 4 months into the job, 2026 has kicked off in a predictably fast-paced manner to date, each day presenting some exciting challenges. However, there is also a very pleasing daily routine supporting this, and spending three days a week in a busy London office is incredibly fulfilling.
On my very first day in the office, I was greeted by warm smiles and just one core social test to pass, it seemed – whether or not I liked Taylor Swift. The office Bluetooth speaker has since introduced me to a wonderfully wide range of music tastes, although I’m reluctant to take command of the office playlist as my love of death metal would probably make for significantly less sociable listening.
A day in the life here is quite difficult to describe as, be it a huge cliche, no two days are the same. This felt especially true in my first few weeks, absorbing as much as I could of the fantastic team dynamics, and the project workflows, from concept to execution.
Quieter days can present great opportunities to research industry changes or brainstorm fresh ideas for clients; the busier days are sometimes more meeting-centric and allow for collaborative workshop-style sessions, especially in the office. There is hugely refreshing alignment between the care and the output – all projects are unique, although the processes, expertise and quality are a constant, and an absolute delight to be a part of.
With everyone here truly caring deeply about their work and the overall culture, I’m quickly getting the sense of how seriously TWK takes its core values, as well as the promotion of a healthy work-life balance, and genuine warmth & support for one another (not forgetting the friendly competition that the lunchtime darts games bring to keep our energy fresh).
Naturally I am biased, but there’s no question that I would recommend a company like TWK to anyone searching for a rewarding, wholesome and fast-paced career. Within my first weeks, I’d been greeted with open arms by all my coworkers, and made to feel so very welcome during social events over the festive period. I cannot overstate how much I appreciate this, especially as an introvert coming into such a cohesively bound group. Given how much of our lives are to be spent at a desk, quality of life at work is absolutely non-negotiable.
It’s such a pleasure to be part of this community, and I am so very excited about everything the future holds for The Web Kitchen.
