Clearing the Cache!
Typo3 uses page caching so that a page is not generated every time a page is viewed. This makes page loading times much faster and also reduces the load on the server. When changes are made on a page in Typo3 the cache needs to be cleared for those changes to take effect throughout the site.
There are two ways to clear the cache:
Through Web > Page:
- Click on a page in the page tree whilst in the Web > Page mode
- Click on Advanced functions (in the top right of the screen)
- Click 'Cache Functions: Clear Cache'
- Select 'Clear FE Cache'
Whilst editing a document (e.g. a page or content element):
- Click the 'Menu' drop-down at the top of the page
- Select 'Clear FE Cache'
Although previewing a page will update changes on a single page, the FE (Front-End) Cache must be cleared for changes to take effect throughout the site - e.g. menu items and inherited teasers which appear on numerous pages.
